Gyani Hindustani, a man on a mission to cycle from Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu to his home in Uttarakhand spreading awareness on social issues on the way, has arrived in Pune. He is determined to complete his journey despite being mugged in Solapur. DNA caught-up with him to discover his story.

A 43-year-old Gyanendra Singh alias Gyani Hindustani, who hails from flood-ravaged state Uttarakhand, is on cycling expedition from Rameshwaram in Kerala to Uttarakhand and spreading awareness about various forms of crime in the society. Singh, who reached Pune two days ago is visiting various colleges and hostels in the city and interacting with students to make them aware of the dangers of ragging and opening a dialogue to curb the menace.
So far he has cycled more than 6000 km visiting major cities like Kochi, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and now he is in the city for next couple of days.
A writer and social activist, Singh has done several such cycling expeditions in the past - the current expedition being his fifth attempt. "I embarked on the current cycling expedition on April 29, 2013 from Rameshwaram. Finally I aim to reach my home state visiting various states and their major cities where I would mostly meet with college students and other groups. There are several forms of crime, which take place in the society every day, Be it crime against women, crime against children and so on and so forth and there is need to create awareness among the society especially youth, who are more prone to fall prey and even commit crimes."
He further said that here in the city, he has been visiting colleges and hostels and interacting with the students and making them aware about the upward graph of crime in the country.
"Since they are students and majority of them live in the hostels, I have been enlightening them on the ragging issue, which is burning topic in the education field," he said.
During their interaction, Singh made the students aware how a ragging incident can ruin the life of a student.
"I ask them whether they have proper anti ragging cell in the college, which is mandatory for education institutes," he added.
Apart from the ragging, Singh said he interacted with girl students and made them aware of the crimes against women and eve-teasing besides telling them to be strong while tackling such menaces.
Singh, who is a graduate in Tourism studies said it was his longest cycling expedition. "I do not have much money and during the journey, I usually sojourn at temple, ashrams and schools," said Singh.
He said that from here, his next stop would be Mumbai and from where he will decide where to go.
In his earlier expeditions, in 2002, he had embarked on the cycling expedition to spread communal harmony after the Gujarat riots.

Today, i am in Ravana Gaon, the village named Ravana.
It is nearly 84 Km from Pune.

3 Days After
Date : 25th February, 2014

That night proved
the most dangerous night
of my life so far.
I escaped my life that midnight
by the Grace of Almighty God and
The Lord Siva Sankar,
The Neelkantha Mahaadev
in the state of Sivaaji
and in the Mahadev Temple
in a village named Rawana gaon
approximately 84 Km from Pune
on Solapur road where 5-6 misguided
or miscreant boys of that village tried
to kill me by strangulation on Sat/Sun
midnight nearly 12:30 AM
When I asked for help from villagers
they also try to kill me thinking me
as a thief or so.

Happy Valentine Day
For Each And All , Here And There
It makes you happy , I can say
If you are generous and deal with fair !
Kavi ( The Poet Gyani Hindustani )

   The Valentine Day
People mostly have this perception that this day
has very wrong and negative meanings. They think
that this day is for only youths who have misguided
and corrupted but I don't think so. If I studied well
about it nearly one decade back , this day is celebrated
for remembering the great saint of west. He was very
liberal and peace loving so he stressed or wished to be
happy and celebrate his birthday being peaceful with a
noble feelings of love for everyone upon this earth but
generally if we say Happy Valentine Day to some with
such great feelings they think bad and wrong about us.
Kavi Gyani Hindustani ( Gyanendra Singh)

Here today, I am about to put some of my composed
poems or songs which have some glimpse of love , peace,
humor , entertainment and the strange flight of my
poetic imagination. I believe generous people from any
place will greatly enjoy them but negative thinkers may
think me wrong having loose and bad perception about me.

My Thoughts About Fastings

Really it is very very hard for observing fastings.
Having fasts without food or so like Shri Anna Hazare's Anshan
I fell much more hard. Perhaps, i cannot do like that even for 48 hours.
Even having fasts like Hundus and Muslims are also not very easy.

I too observe fasts during a particular time period with having
no food, water , fruit or so from sunrise to sunset period for
some days in accordance with the voice of my conscience.
In the past years of 2011 , 2012 and 2013  I observed my
such kinds of  fasting for the span of 19 , 24 and 30 days
respectively. I have got again an inspiration for doing like that soon for this year.

Diary for today:
 DATE : 11-02-2014 , TUESDAY      Time : 9 :46 PM

Yesterday , I went to see Cilkuru Balaji Temple and the day before yesterday
I saw noted Charminaar here. Hence it was fulfilled my long cherished desire to
see them.It was truly good experience.Last night while returning from chilkuru
Balaji Temple , nearly 8:30 pm in the city the handle of my bicycle collided with
coming another cyclist suddenly from wrong side and I fell down harshly. I got
severe injury in the wrist of my left hand. Still it has a much pain. I got X-ray but
at the hospital in Ramkrishan math but the doctor had gone , so I have to wait
for tomorrow for knowing the reality about the seriousness or so for further
treatment about it. i want soon recovery so that I can move ahead for my mission.
It is very hard to live like disable as we cannot work with our full strength and
God given capacity but these difficulties also teach us big lesson for knowing
the value of our human body which is really a boon to perform some great
and noble work for the good of humanity and the Universe with fine focus.

Diary for today               Date : 08-02-2014, Saturday                Time : 9:24

Today was also very busy day. In the morning for  breakfast,
I took only a soft coconut which water I had already drank last evening.
I approached one college and several schools to address students there
but due to exams time or so , I could not get any chance for that today.
I took only one Masala Dosa during lunch due to  lack of time.
I am so sorry for not seeing Chaar Minaar and Chikluru Temple so far
while I am here in Hyderabad from more than a month. Hopefully, I can
get time and opportunity for that tomorrow. I am also very sorry for not
seeing Zoo and Palace from inside in Mysore and Lalbagh Garden in
Bangalore whereas I also spent there a good span of more than a month.

                                                           Second Part of  Today
                                                             Thursday, February 6, 2014 ( Time 9:39 PM )
Today , I could not deliver any lecture but I was busy for sifting my accommodation
from Ramkrishna Math to again Ambarpet, Tilaknagar. From the evening of 1st Feb
to today morning I stayed there. I enjoyed good food or prasaad Bhojan there during
this time. I received wonderful vibration and spiritually nice experience being there but
I am so sorry for not attending spiritual programme in the Muth due to being busy in my
own excursions or busy activities about my mission. Today I could not take lunch for this
reason but took a good breakfast there. Even now , I could not take dinner but drank
the coconut water from three pieces. Today , I had to be seated at the same place for
doing my internet work continuously for five hours and twenty seven minutes.
I have got such experience so many times for doing work on internet till for more than
four or five hours without going outside for water, tea or nature calls but i never thought
that this is also a unique way or power given by God for doing some essential deed with
a sense  of duty and responsibility for a long span of time regularly.
